Tire: AltiMAX HP
Category: Grand Touring All-Season
UTQG (treadwear): 440 A A
The AltiMAX HP is a solid overall tire, for the performance category. You can find better performance in the category, but maybe not for the money. I see special offers run for these tires a lot. So this tire is for value conscious drivers for sure, but that isn't to say that it's cheap, because that wouldn't be the case. General Tire has put some good technology into this tire to help against hydroplaning and noise reduction. This tire also has treadwear bars to help you know when it's tire to change them out.
This tire comes in a variety of sizes and has a good treadwear rating for the performance category. However, real world results don't exactly stack up to the impressive specs. Some drives have reported getting as few as 30,000 miles out of set under moderate driving conditions. That's not great. I think you'll see more along the lines of 40,000 miles on average though. So nothing special to look at here, they make my top 10 for Grand Touring All-Season, but they are definitely in the lower rungs of the ranking ladder.
