Tire: SP50
Category: Passenger All-Season
UTQG (treadwear): 460 A B
The SP50 by Dunlop is a pretty average all season tire. It ranks about mid-pack compared to other passenger all season tires and it doesn't really display any distinguishing features that make it stand out from the crowd as the tire to by for your vehicle. The one thing that I might say about this tire is that it is a bit higher on the durability scale than other run of the mill all season tires, which means that it'll take a beating better than most. Oftentimes we see this tire used as original equipment (OE), so you'll find it fitted as a new tire to vehicles sitting on dealer lots. Typically OE tires are not known to be of the highest quality, and in that regard I find the SP50 no exception. There were a number of years where Dodge fitted this tire specifically to the Caliber model, fun fact I suppose. Most drivers seem to get around 55,000 miles out of a set when fitted new from the the factory. Pretty decent for an OE tire really. However if you are looking for a bit more traction and longevity out of a replacement tire, I'd suggest looking elsewhere and away from the SP50. For the price, I think there are numerous other suitable options on the market.
