The Blizzak LM-25 4x4 RFT is a specialized performance winter tire developed by Bridgestone for use as an original equipment tire on the Toyota Rav4. As it stands right now, this tire comes in a single 18" wheel size and while it was designed for this specific application to a Rav4, it can certainly be used on any light vehicle if it fits the wheel. This is a run flat tire, which means that in the event of a puncture, this tire is designed to provide support for traveling 50 miles at 50 mph. Bridgestone actually doesn't spell this out when advertising the tire, but it is a good rule of thumb. This is a pretty advanced tire in terms of technology, as it features the Lamellen edge effect where sipes are built multidirectionally to increase biting edges. This tire meets the industry standards for severe snow service, and Bridgestone recommends that you only install these tires in sets of four due to their traction capabilities. Since so few people run these tires (they may increase the size range in the future), it's hard to gauge how long they'll last or if they are even any good. Typically Blizzak branded tires are well thought of, so it's hard for me to imagine these being too different. I would anticipate getting about 40,000 miles out of a set with proper rotation, which is about average for the category. We've had a few drivers report back on the Blizzak LM-25 4X4 RFT and the reviews are very good, especially their ability in deep snow. Stay tuned for more updates on this tire. We should have a full review by spring.
