Tire: Ecopia EP20
Category: Passenger All-Season
UTQG (treadwear): 380 B B
The Ecopia EP20 from Bridgestone that I can pretty much call a very green tire. It's been designed as an ultra low rolling resistance tire that has been original equipment (OE) on 2010 and newer Toyota Prius hybrids. But this tire could also be fitted to any other vehicle that is looking for increased fuel economy and a reduction in carbon emissions. There are a few features that I'll point out on this tire in relation to it being low rolling resistance. They are the narrow tread width and shallow tread depth, along with a unique internal construction. The point of me writing that is to make sure people understand that while this is an all-season tire technically, it does not handle snow very well, nonetheless this tire still makes my top 10 for the performance category.
Most drivers seem to enjoy the easy going nature of this tire. It's not especially loud or harsh and will give you a reasonably comfortable ride under most conditions. As I mentioned before, the snow traction will give most people issues (of course, not an issue if you don't have snow), but this is a more or less specialized tire that is geared towards fuel economy. So it's hard to say that you weren't warned. Most people seem to get around 50,000 miles out of a set, which isn't exceptional, but for an OE tire I'd say that's pretty good. Also keep in mind that you'll be getting better miles per gallon with these as well.
