So this is a really unique tire, but we're devoted to get all the information out there for every tire on the market. This was the OE (original equipment) tire for the Subaru Impreza WRX STI in the mid 2000's, in addition to the the very small volume late 2000's Honda S2000 CR. This is essentially a dry weather tire that is probably more at home on the track than the street, although Bridgestone says it can handle wet driving conditions as well. But this tire is not intended to be driven at near-freezing temperatures or in snow/ice conditions.
A lot of the features of this tire are built to enhance dry weather traction. This particular asymmetric tread design is the first component, but this tire also has Semi-Slick outboard shoulder blocks (the outer parts of the tire that touch the ground). In this tire size, this tire probably has the stiffest sidewalls out there. So this tire won't provide a lot of comfort driving around town, but you'll be able to take corners really fast on the track with a ton of stability. The Potenza RE070 does use an aggressive tire compound (along with a very low treadwear rating), and most drivers report getting less than 20,000 miles out of a set, so you'll be breaking out the checkbook pretty often if you drive a lot of miles every year.
